Deep breathing

Deep breathing is a simple relaxation technique that helps you feel better when you’re stressed.

This tool will show you how to do a deep breathing exercise sometimes called square breathing. When you’ve got the hang of it, you can do it almost anywhere you feel stressed: at home, at work or in public.

There are four easy steps:

  1. Breathe in deeply for around four seconds
  2. Hold your breath for around four seconds
  3. Breathe out for around four seconds
  4. Hold your breath for around four seconds

Repeat this for a few minutes or until you start feeling better.
